## Challenge
With their ERP foundation in place from an earlier engagement, Advance Technologies' next bottleneck was quoting. Their chiller and process plant equipment range configures across tonnage, refrigerant, compressor type, voltage, and accessories, and every quote still routed through a senior engineer to check that the combination was actually buildable and compliant. Sales could not move without engineering, and every quote carried the risk of a mismatched capacity-to-compressor selection or a missed pressure-vessel requirement.

## Approach
Building on the ERP already in place, we designed a rule-based CPQ inside their Odoo system that encodes the real engineering parameters their team already works to, so the configurator enforces the same logic a senior engineer would, automatically, for every quote.

- Modeled chiller product lines by type: air-cooled screw, water-cooled screw, and scroll chillers
- Encoded capacity-to-compressor matching against AHRI 550/590 performance data
- Built pressure vessel and refrigerant safety rules aligned to ASME Section VIII and ASHRAE 15
- Added electrical configuration rules for voltage, phase, and enclosure rating per IS 325
- Connected accepted quotes to auto-generated BOMs and manufacturing orders in Odoo

## Solutions
- **Capacity & Refrigerant Rules** — Tonnage (TR), COP, EER, and IPLV bounded to AHRI 550/590 rated performance for each compressor and refrigerant combination (R-134a, R-407C, R-513A).
- **Compressor & Chiller-Type Logic** — Screw, scroll, or centrifugal compressor options constrained to the tonnage range and chiller type actually offered, so incompatible combinations cannot be selected.
- **Pressure Vessel & Safety Compliance** — Shell and heat-exchanger configurations checked against ASME Section VIII Division 1 and ASHRAE 15 refrigerant safety classification before a quote can be generated.
- **Electrical Configuration Rules** — Voltage (415V/3ph/50Hz), enclosure rating, and starter type (DOL, star-delta, VFD) configured per IS 325 and matched to the selected compressor load.
- **Accessories & Controls Pricing** — Buffer tanks, pump sets, and BMS integration (Modbus/BACnet) priced at the component level and added to the quote automatically when selected.
- **Auto BOM & Manufacturing Order** — An accepted quote generates the bill of materials and manufacturing order directly in Odoo, carrying every configured parameter through to production.

## Why it worked
The configurator did not replace engineering judgment, it encoded it. Because the rules were built directly from the AHRI performance data, ASME pressure vessel requirements, and electrical standards Advance Technologies' own engineers already used, sales could generate a quote with confidence that it was buildable and compliant, without waiting on a manual review. Tying the accepted quote to an automatic BOM and manufacturing order kept the shop floor working from the same configuration the customer signed off on.
