## Challenge
Made to measure and mega wardrobe quoting is complex because every unit varies by size, carcass material, finish, shutter type, internal accessories, and hardware brand. Designers price by hand, invalid combinations slip through, and each accepted order is manually converted into a cut list and bill of materials, which slows delivery and creates production errors.

## Approach
We built a rule based CPQ in Odoo that captures the real configuration logic of modular wardrobes, so a valid, priced quote is generated from guided dimensions and choices and flows straight into a cut list and production order.

- Encoded maximum shutter width and shelf load limits so unsafe spans cannot be selected
- Set carcass and finish compatibility rules for ply, MDF, laminate, acrylic, and membrane

- Connected accepted quotes to auto generated cut lists and manufacturing orders

## Solutions
- **Dimension and Span Rules** — Width, height, and depth bounded so sliding shutter spans and shelf loads stay within safe, buildable limits.
- **Material and Finish Logic** — Carcass (ply, MDF, particle board) and finish (laminate, acrylic, membrane, veneer) constrained to compatible combinations only.
- **Shutter and Accessory Configuration** — Sliding or hinged shutters with drawers, shelves, hanging rods, mirrors, and lofts selected against the available internal space.
- **Hardware and Brand Pricing** — Branded hinges, channels, and soft-close hardware (such as Hettich and Blum) priced at component level and added automatically.
- **Edge Banding and Add-ons** — Edge banding, lighting, and finishing options priced by running length and unit as selected.
- **Auto Cut List and BOM** — An accepted quote generates the panel cut list, bill of materials, and manufacturing order in Odoo, ready for the panel saw and assembly.

## Why it worked
Modular wardrobes have a lot of interacting choices, and most quoting errors come from combinations that are not actually buildable. By encoding span limits, load limits, and material compatibility as rules, the configurator let designers quote made to measure units in minutes with confidence, and the automatic panel cut list and bill of materials carried the exact configuration through to the shop floor.
